Content-finding system delivered to Hungarian police
The National Hungarian Police (ORFK) recently began using a knowledge management system called Infovadász ("Info Hunter" ) which was developed for them by Montana Informatikai és Kommunikációs Zrt, reports napi.hu.
Infovadász helps investigators of the ORFK find relevant information in unstructured text and databases. Different crimes can be connected based on content, and pieces of information can be grouped, thus relations and trends that would previously have gone unnoticed can now be recognized.
At a live demonstration of the Infovadász earlier this week, Montana CEO Pál Vadász said that with the help of the system, the time and energy earlier spent on searching can be used for analyzing and decision making.
"Search engines widely used today return an incredible number of results, and to review them further, intelligent search engines would be needed," Vadász added. "[Infovadász], instead of an endless number of results, finds information that is relevant and is important content-wise."
Vadász also said that Infovadász extracts 60% more relevant information from electronic data within 9% of the time currently spent on searching.
Infovadász is being tested as a pilot project by the ORFK and - after language adaptation - could be implemented by any European police force.
Besides law enforcement, the system could be useful in many areas of public administration, banking and insurance, and marketing, it was said at the demonstration. It could also be applied to archives and research centers.
