Christian Democrats urge boycott of insurers
The Christian Democratic Party yesterday called on all Hungarians to boycott any insurance companies that get involved in a multi-player health insurance system.
Party member Kálmán Nagy told reporters that financial decisions rather than professional decisions will be made regarding life-threatening illnesses, as a direct consequence of the planned model.
Declaring that the government was not authorised to make such an important decision, he said "a decent government ought to call on citizens to decide on the matter in a referendum."
The National Federation of Workers Councils will support such a boycott, said union leader Imre Palkovics.
