Budapest Police (BRFK) have issued an arrest warrant for a Chinese man studying in Budapest who is suspected of murdering a 21 year-old Norwegian female student, BRFK said on its website on Wednesday.

BRFK's Homicide Department of the Criminal Investigations Division is carrying out an investigation on suspicion that Zhao Feng, a 26-year-old Chinese citizen, who has since departed to an unknown location, was the perpetrator.

In the early hours of the 28th of August, 2010, a Norwegian woman was found with multiple stab wounds in a Budapest student hostel in the 7th district's Harsfa street.

Earlier, a source who asked not to be named told MTI that a Chinese student was the suspect, confirming information in a press report that a man who had been intimate with the Norwegian woman had posted a message on his Facebook page.

Bors, a Hungarian tabloid, on Wednesday quoted the message as saying: "I did not want to hurt you...if I die I hope that we can meet again and be together".

According to an Oslo paper, the woman broke off with her boyfriend before spending time over the summer in London, Bors wrote.

The Homicide Department of the Criminal Investigations Division of the Budapest Police Headquarters (police.hu) posted a statement requesting information. Anyone who recognises the man on the accompanying photograph or has any relevant information as to his current whereabouts or the crime should call +36-1-443-5263, or make an anonymous report calling the toll free number: 36-80-555-111 or one of the emergency numbers (“107”, “112”), the statement said.
