Child beaten to death by father in Southern Hungary
A three year-old boy died seemingly from injuries inflicted by his father in Kaposvár on Tuesday, causing outrage in the town yesterday. The man, whose whereabouts are currently unknown, has been previously punished several times for beating his children. Police launched a large-scale manhunt.
The number of children who die as a result of physical abuse in Hungary is 13 times higher than in Spain, a UNICEF report found in 2003. Social Affairs and Labor Minister Mónika Lamperth yesterday ordered an inquiry into the case.
