Chancellery minister blames disturbers for Oct 23 violence
Chancellery Minister György Szilvásy said there is clear proof that the police are not to be blamed for "pushing" rioters into the peaceful crowd gathered to listen to opposition leader Viktor Orbán at Astoria on October 23, writes hirszerzo.hu, based on a report by state news agency MTI.
Szilvásy told MTI this morning that disturbers deliberately "pulled" riot police in the direction of the square where Fidesz was holding its main rally. He will attend a hearing of the human rights, state security and police committees of Parliament later today where he said he would present proof that organizers of the riot are responsible for the fights in which 100 people were injured on Monday of last week.
The minister added that known far-right groups including the Sixty-Four Counties Youth Movement (Hatvannégy Vármegye Ifjúsági Mozgalom), Conscience '88 (Lelkiismeret '88), people responsible for the content of far-right portal Kuruc.info and some representatives of the World Association of Hungarians (Magyarok Világszövetsége) are the organizers of the riots, and that several of them have party connections.
Szilvásy said he also has proof that the removal of demonstrators from Kossuth Lajos tér on October 23 happened because the organizers failed to keep their agreement with the police.
