Budget halved for August 20 events
The government will spend nearly Ft 150 million, half of the usual sum, on staging the August 20 ceremonies, Public Administration and Justice Ministry spokesman Zoltán Kovács announced on Friday.
He said the government has commissioned a Szombathely entrepreneur to arrange the Budapest fireworks display for Ft 70 million.
Kovács added that 500 children from flood-stricken areas of Hungary will be invited to attend the Budapest festivities.
