Budapest transport company may be planning redundancies
Budapest Transport (BKV) CEO Attila Antal arranged a screening on the reorganisation of the company for members of mayor Gábor Demszky's inner circle, but did not mention news reports that the firm is about to fire 10% of its manual workers and 20% of its white collar employees.
In-house union leader Gábor Nemes said "the union's confidence in Antal has been shaken." Nemes added that "the union gave Antal several months grace, but is now shocked to hear of plans to fire 1,500-2000 staff members, without consulting the union." Antal was appointed to his post in December.
BKV spokesman Miklós Regőczi claimed that the news reports of planned dismissals were false.
