The BKV (Budapest Transportation Company) made public their plans about changes for 2008 in terms of prices and services, containing the proposal that monthly passes would be abolished, and only 30-day passes could be bought.

The BKV claims this may end the long lines at ticket offices that occur at the beginning of each month. Other proposals for 2008 include the abolition of less-frequently bought passes, and the introduction of time-based SMS passes and night time passes.

Deputy Mayor Miklós Hagyó demanded BKV Zrt. chairman Attila Antal publish the documents regarding the plans for 2008, and to commence the necessary negotiations with consumer and professional organizations in Budapest districts.
