Budapest to host 2008 Christian-Jewish world convention
Hungarian Catholic Bishop's Conference (Magyar Katolikus Püspöki Konferencia, MKPK) secretary László Német has announced that the Christian-Jewish World convention will be held in Budapest between November 9 and 12, 2008, writes Stop.hu.
The main organizers will be Cardinal Walter Kasper, leader of the Vatican Council for Promoting Christian Unity and president of the Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews, responsible for Catholic-Jewish relations, New York Rabbi Arthur Schneier and MKPK office leader János Sánta.
László Német also talked about the Hungarian bishops' visit to the Pope in May 2008. The event, known as "visit ad limina", is held once every five years.
He also said that in spite of the government's decision to withdraw subsidies from homes maintained by churches, the Catholic church will not close its homes or deny admission to those in need.
