Budapest riot police to wear identity tags on October 23

Riot police will wear identification signs in three places on their uniforms as they monitor events on and around October 23, National Police chief József Bencze told Parliament's national defence and law enforcement committee on Tuesday. He confirmed that he has instructed police not to use rubber bullets.

This level of preparation seems to contradict national security chief György Szilvásy's statement made two weeks ago, which assured the population that there would be no unrest on the national holiday. So far, 103 gatherings have been announced for October 23, but demonstrations outside government buildings are banned.
