Budapest has been listed among the top ten cities recommended for tourists by the Lonely Planet Europe guidebook, the non-profit tourism company BTH told MTI on Wednesday.

The summer "Grand Tour" invites readers to Budapest, alongside London, Paris, Barcelona, Rome, Vienna, Berlin, Dubrovnik, Athens and Istanbul.

Recommending the Hungarian capital, Lonely Planet highlights the city's vibrant cafes, the spectacular mix of old and new buildings, the unique thermal baths, and the Buda Castle, which also features on UNESCO's World Heritage list.

A recent BTH survey showed guide books to be the most important sources of information for tourists, followed by information offices and maps.
