Budapest market hall reopens
The Garay market hall in Budapest's District VII (Erzsébetváros) opened after a complete reconstruction on August 14, reports daily Népszabadság. The 8,000-square-meter, air-conditioned building, which is owned by the local government, includes 80 shops offering a range of products.
The hall's food vendors - who are located on the underground floors of the "Garay-ház" complex - are largely the same as those who were present before the previous building was torn down. Above the market are residential apartments.
As the only market hall built since Hungary joined the European Union four years ago, it is also the only one meeting all applicable EU regulations.
Currently, the market hall has an 800-square-meter empty area where service providers are welcome to settle.
