Budapest expected to make decision on long-planned bicycle rental system

The city council of Budapest is expected to adopt a proposal seeking to establish a bicycle sharing system at the end of May, business daily Napi Gazdasag reported on Tuesday.

 

The project, involving the procurement of 1,011 bikes and construction of 74 stations in central Budapest, will cost a total 1.1 billion forints (EUR 4.1m), the paper said.

 

According to information from the Budapest Transport Centre, the European Union will contribute 3.4 million euros to the scheme.
