Budapest district seeks to ban tour buses from City Park
The government of District XIV (Zugló) wants to install traffic barriers in three areas leading into Budapest's City Park (Városliget) in order to bar access by tour buses, writes inforadio.hu.
Zugló Mayor Leonárd Weinek said the barriers, which would close off Dvorák sétány, Olof Palme sétány and Zichy Mihály út, are necessary because of the pollution caused by buses which pass through and park on the Városliget's leafy thoroughfares, which disturbs those who want to use the park to relax, cycle or walk with their children.
Weinek pointed out that the district recently handed a plot of land over to the city where an underground garage could be built for the buses, adding that his administration's proposal would not limit access to the park by trolley buses and those holding entry permits.
