Budapest Court rules against rail union wage demand
The Budapest Labour Court ruled yesterday that rail union VDSZSZ's claim for a 10% wage hike from MÁV on top of the 6.9% already agreed for this year is unlawful.
However, the Court said the union can legitimately seek a one-off Ft 250,000 payment from the revenues of privatised freight division MÁV Cargo.
MÁV took the matters to court last week after the VDSZSZ went on strike.
Talks between the two sides remained deadlocked on Monday. The union has threatened to resume its strike on Friday if no agreement is reached by then.
