Budapest court issues int'l arrest warrant against suspect in murder of Norwegian
A Budapest court has issued an international arrest warrant against the Chinese man who is suspected of killing a Norwegian female student in Budapest last weekend.
The court announced on its website on Saturday that it had issued a "European and international" arrest warrant against Zhao Fei, who is suspected of the murder of the 21-year-old student.
The Norwegian woman was found with multiple stab wounds in a Budapest student hostel in the early hours of August 28.
Budapest Police (BRFK) Homicide Department head Jozsef Szigeti said on Thursday that CCTV footage verified the suspicion that the 26-year-old Chinese man had been the perpetrator. He added that Zhao Fei had left Hungary through Ferihegy Airport on the day of the murder, but declined to disclose the destination of his flight.
Bors, a Hungarian tabloid, said on Wednesday that the man had been intimate with the student.
According to an Oslo paper, the woman broke off with her boyfriend before spending time over the summer in London.
A few hours before the woman's body was found, the Chinese man posted the following message on his Facebook page, "I did not want to hurt you...if I die I hope that we can meet again and be together".
