Budapest Airport has reached agreements with two unions on wage increases for 2007, eliminating the short-term threat of a strike.

The operator of Ferihegy Airport will implement a 6.5% wage increase, retroactive to January 1, in two steps. All employees will receive a 5.8% raise, and there will be an additional 2.7% average increase differentiated between groups to reduce wage tensions. Both sides agreed to plan on a similar wage increase in 2008.

A Budapest Airport action plan to improve working conditions has been approved by the unions. The unions agreed not to organise any strikes before January 31, 2008.
