Budapest airport strike suspended
Budapest airport unions suspended their strike against airport operator at 6 am on Wednesday, Budapest Airport (BA) spokesman Domokos Szollar told MTI.
However, Terminal 1 remains closed in the morning hours, he said, all flights are scheduled to depart from Terminal 2B. No delays are expected, Szollar said, adding that BA will decide about opening Terminals 1 and 2A in the morning.
Tuesday's negotiations between the trade unions and BA closed without an agreement.
Two unions of airport workers recommenced a strike on Monday, which originally started on December 10 and was suspended on December 22.
The trade unions are planning to exert pressure on BA by intermittent strikes, and by maintaining strike threat, union chairman Attila Csorba told MTI. He blamed BA for failing to reach a rapprochement of views by the two sides.
He also said that in case they would continue the strike they would not need to give an advance notice, so they would resort to announcing it a few hours before.
