Budapest airport strike suspended
Striking airport worker unions announced that they were temporarily suspending their 14-day-old strike as of 2200 hours local time on Tuesday.
The two unions LESZ and RDSZSZ said they were returning to work to facilitate holiday travel and to urge Budapest Airport management to take a more constructive view towards their demands.
The unions, striking for a new collective bargaining agreement and a prevention of layoffs, say they consider management's latest proposal unacceptable but hoped for intensive talks that would continue through the holidays.
They did not say when they planned to resume the walkout.
