Over 1,000 kilograms of explosives dating from the Second World War have been unearthed near Budapest's Bosnyák tér (District XIV) since last weekend on the site of a planned shopping mall, reports index.hu. At the same site, an ancient cemetery was also excavated, writes napi.hu

So far, 1,150 kilograms of ammunition and hand grenades have been found. Due to works at the site, traffic is subject to detours during daylight hours and an earthen wall was built around the excavation area, which is being guarded by police.

Earlier, a cemetery dating back to the period of the Hungarian migration into the Carpathian basin was found at the site, which is probably connected to Sarmatian findings discovered at the location in the past.
