BKV drivers said to park buses in wildcat strike
Drivers employed by Budapest transport company BKV left 270 buses parked in garages on Tuesday in what is said to be a wildcat strike relating on ongoing contract negotiations between the cash-strapped firm and its unions.
BKV unions have said they will hold a strike on January 12.
Drivers who refused to leave their garages claimed that the vehicles had technical faults, but hirextra.hu writes that the reason is probably the standoff over a collective bargaining agreement that expired at the end of the year. Officials of the cash-strapped BKV are said to be seeking benefit cuts in the new contract, according to fn.hu.
Following the incidents, BKV managers said the company would dismiss drivers who engage in wildcat strike actions.
