International Football Federation (FIFA) president Sepp Blatter was in Hungary to open a football training centre in Telki, funded in part by FIFA. UEFA president Michel Platini was also on hand.
The net value of the investment project is Ft 2.85 billion, Hungarian Football Association (MLSZ) press chief Péter Serényi told Napi Gazdaság. The complex lies on a six-hectare site owned by the MLSZ, and has a 64-room building where 120 people can be accommodated. The facility also contains four football fields meeting international regulations. The MLSZ has covered the costs from a Ft 1.2 billion loan, while UEFA has contributed €2.5 million and FIFA $800,000.
Blatter also announced that FIFA will found a Ferenc Puskás award, to be presented for the first time next January. While in Budapest, he met Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai. The two discussed problems of global and children's football at the nearly one-hour meeting in Parliament.
