The National Association of Large Families (NOE) is organizing a five-kilometer-long "human chain" on Saturday Morning to protest against the government's austerity measures, reports hirextra.hu. The procession, which will be joined by several other civic groups, will start at the Fiumei út cemetery and end at the Parliament building, where a petition will be handed over to Members of Parliament.

The organizations are demonstrating against the recently-introduced doctor visitation fee, school tuition fees, the closing of schools and the laying off of teachers.

NOE Head Secretary Ádám Török said that the initiative had been joined by the Hungarian Chamber of Doctors and the Democratic Trade Union of Pedagogists, but could not estimate the number of expected participants. He also said that participants are being asked not to bring any flags or badges associated with political parties, so that the demonstration is not perceived as a partisan action.
