Anti-government protesters block highway near Szeged
Anti-government demonstrators blocked a section of the road leading from Szeged towards Hódmezővásárhely (Csongrád county) Wednesday morning, reports index.hu. Pál Szabó, the organizer of the demonstration, said residents of Szeged have joined those from 11 other Hungarian cities who will be demonstrating every week between 8:30 and 10 a.m. with roadblocks against what they call the "lying" policies of the country's Socialist (MSZP)-Liberal government.
"Many call the events of 1989-1990 a bloodless revolution. This was the price of MSZP handing over the theoretical power, but keeping the economic power, because it was them who managed to get rich in the socialist system," said Szabó.
The demonstration was supervised by the police, and caused traffic to be backed up for kilometeres.
