Two ambulances were attacked and subsequently damaged, on Tuesday, one in Abony, Pest county and the other in Budapest's Eighth District, the National Ambulance Service announced.

In Abony, ambulance personnel alerted in an overdose case were attacked on arrival by members of a local family. The ambulance staff fled into the vehicle and called the police.

The assailants broke the windscreen, tore off the rear-view mirrors and damaged the chassis before police arrived.

In the Eighth District persons unknown broke the window of an ambulance which had taken a patient to a neurology clinic, and stole GPS equipment that had been donated as a gift.
