Alföldi takes over at Hungarian National Theatre
Culture Minister István Hiller presented credentials Tuesday morning to Róbert Alföldi as he took over from Tamás Jordán as director of the National Theatre. Jordán presented a key to Alföldi.
Alföldi then told reporters that he is planning eight premieres for the next season, will stage classic plays "a little differently" and plans to co-operate with foreign theatres, as well as Hungarian writers, musicians and museums.
Alföldi immediately fired such noted actors as Péter Trokán and Zoltán Csankó.
