Albanians caught robbing Swiss couple in Budapest
The police have caught three Albanian men, who robbed a Swiss couple in Budapest through a trick already familiar in the country, Budapest police (BRFK) told MTI on Thursday.
Police officers spotted the three men at the Keleti (Southern) Railway station on Wednesday as they punctured one of the rear tyres of a parked Swiss minibus.
After the Swiss couple got into their vehicle and drove away without noticing the damage the suspects followed them with a Czech registered car and stopped them to call their attention to the punctured tyre.
As the couple went to inspect the problem with the assistance of two Albanians, the third Albanian stole the bags containing personal documents, bank cards, valuables and photo cameras from the Swiss vehicle and fled the scene together with his colleagues.
Police caught the three suspects, one of them has a criminal record, later in the day and recovered all the stolen valuables.
Last year 31 similar robberies were committed in Budapest alone. This year police arrested suspects in ten similar instances, said BRFK.
