81,000 expected to enter college or university this year

A total of 80,924 students, 83% of the 96,990 applicants, have been admitted to universities and colleges for the coming autumn term. Some 75% of applicants were admitted to universities last year and 70% two years ago.

Budapest's Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) was the most popular choice among applicants, with nearly 17,000 sitting for admission examinations. The largest number of students, 7,024, were admitted to ELTE, followed by Pécs University with 6,356.
