Budapest grows on Google Earth

3D models of buildings in Budapest's inner districts have been added to the Google Earth software, Google Hungary leader Zoltán Peresztegi told origo.hu. Nearly all buildings can now be walked around in the popular free distribution satellite imagery software.

Until now, only important public buildings and tourist attractions in Budapest were visible in 3D in the software, such as museums, bridges, the Buda Castle, the Citadel, Heroes' Square, a few office buildings and a few others on Ráday utca and Andrássy út.

However, the launch of Google's "Building Maker" tool last month made 3D modeling of buildings using aerial photos easy for anyone. It is unclear whether users of the Google Earth software or Google created the models of Budapest's inner district within such a short time, the portal writes.
