Horsemeat lasagna has arrived in Hungary, György Pleva, of the food safety authority Nébih announced late on Monday.

The shipment of the packaged product, described as beef lasagna, was to have been delivered to the Nowaco company in the Czech Republic, but was delivered to Hungary in an as yet unclear way, Pleva said.

Pleva said the shipment arrived at Novafood which sells Nowaco products, in Hungary in December, and appeared in shops.

The company began withdrawing the product from circulation, and officials said it is no longer in warehouses.

In an interview with Népszava, Pleva said a ten kilogram shipment of frozen beefburger presumably containing Polish horsemeat arrived in a restaurant near Lake Balaton last August, where it was consumed.
