Romanian living in Hungary with fake ID expelled
A Romanian man has been caught and expelled from Hungary after living in the country using a fake ID for ten years, a police spokesman said on Wednesday.
The 42 year-old ethnic Hungarian was apprehended in the village of Nyircsaszari in northeast Hungary on Tuesday when he attempted to register a permanent address at the local council. An administrator reported him to police after growing suspicious because his data were missing from the registry.
Police revealed that the man's ID had originally been issued to a woman.
The man admitted that he had bought the ID in Budapest ten years ago and used it since to work, benefit from health services and even to take out a bank loan.
