Hungary has lowered the mandatory age for kindergarten enrollment to three from the current five for those children who reach the age of three before August 31st. The local notary will have the power, however, to make individual exemptions for children based on family or developmental reasons until they reach the age of five, from which point kindergarten will be mandatory for all children.
