I hear the general theme thing.

Also, it is difficult to keep track of where the new posts are on this forum. I find that regulars often post in batches when they have time and then check back in an hour or so to see who has replied. It is important that this is as easy as possible to encourage the forum freaks to come back.

Regular posters who socialise online and respond to every message anyone posts are the ones you need to cater to. The forum addicts and true geeks keep a forum ticking over on a day-to-day basis, not the casual posters and lurkers.

To make it a true community, I you are right. Fewer topics = more posts.

Its been my observation -- and again I'm no expert -- that peeps tend to gravitate towards the forum with a general theme. I think they just wanna shoot the breeze with da buds :-) for the most part.

As for colors I do dearly love red, white and blue. That Burnt orange (on my monitor) is not fetching. JMHO

Hey man, don't you know that orange is the new black? But I agree, a more up-and-coming colour scheme would be nice.

What do you mean by fewer forums? On this site? Or do you mean fewer topics and more freedom to post and meander from topic to topic within the same thread? In my experience, people don't like to jump between topic areas too much and the "talk about whatever you want" section is usually the most popular. On the other hand, the forums I read are frequented by people who know each other, either electronically or in person. In that kind of informal forum, a political discussion can easily morph into one about sex or sport or anything else. Is this what you are getting at?

I think Erik is just trying to give people ideas - and keep polital discussions away from those of us who are only interested in shopping, etc. What people really want to talk about is entirely up to them.

Any thoughts?

and now I'm going to bitch.

Erik, the colors are horrid. I know you've addressed this with somebody else, but I gotta tell ya that if you aren't wed to this colors (or the person who choose them) think over changing them. Whew. I suspect you know that it matters.

I am not an expert, but it has been my observation that when it comes to chat forums that fewer is better. Don't know what you'd like to see for these forums, but one or two is enough and let folks chat about what they want.

Now da suga. I like this portal and hope that its a big success.

By the way, what is "American grear"?
