Pricey but the food is good I thought, it's a place I'd go back too and I've been to my share of curry restaurants in London at least. Can't vouch for the authenticity myself but some Indian friends from Mumbai came along and thought that the food was good too....

Stinks even from the outside so never made it in...

Food is good but value is not. Prices too high for what you get. Our bill was padded by charging for higher priced item. Waitress was borderline rude.

Personally, I have to say the Shalimar is best; in the UK we have a saying;

"the crappier the place looks, the better the curry" - and in the case of the Shalimar, which by no means looks at all impressive (though hygene is of course fine); they serve a great curry. If you want it extra spicy, you damn well get it extra spicy, I generally opt for a vindaloo and get some raw green chillies chucked in a little dish to eat with it.

I once decided to try another indian, but just didn't get the same quality as the Shalimar.

Anyone who particularly enjoys a spicy curry that can recommend somewhere on par?

I have been visiting this restaurant since it opened and it was very good in the beginning but the quality has really gone down recently. Maybe they have changed the chef. my last 3 visits didnt leave me excited at all. I thought it was the one time but I have been thrice. I dont think I will be returning soon which is a real shame because I really liked the place. There are many other indian restaurants in the city now. I will try them soon

I wanted to try Indian food with my family and went with Chew recomendation for top 33 list. It was a huge disapointment.
We had to wait ages for our drinks and when they finally arrived, they were not chilled. another long wait for the ice. Our order of the food got mixed up with another table and half the food was on our table and the remaning we didnt order. the one we didnt order went back leaving only half of us with the food. as the family wanted to enjoy the food together we waited for the rest. in the mean timethe food got cold. we thought that if this will be send back then the ohter half will get cold. so we decided to have half food warm and the other half luke warm. food was not bad but this whole situation semmed to spoil our apetite. we did get an apology but that was it. I had hoped for a better dining experience. I hope the other entries on the top 33 are beter judged before addding them on the list

I think that the editors should really have another visit to the restaurant and asses if it should be on the top 33. I seriously doubt it.
"Indian cusine redifined" this must be a joke. I live in London and have been to some of the top Indian restaurants. This is a very cheap imitation not authentic at all. the desserets specially are a disgrace and the coffie is bad too.
the food doesnt taste that bad but they are not redifining anything forsure, and not eorthy of the top 33 aswell

This was the only restaurant from the 6 I visited in the "Top 33" that I left feeling slightly disappointed. Indian cuisine is my favourite and I attempt to visit a curry house where ever I travel. Salaam Bombay had nice decor, staff were great and there was a good selection of drinks. Whilst my Hot and Sour soup was good and the Naan and Rice we fine, the mains were a bit of a let down. The chicken was lovely and succulent however my sauce had a chemical type heat to it as opposed to being hot from natural ingredients (no fresh chillies in sight). Overall still a decent dining experience, just not as good as I thought it was going to be.

I have been to a number of Indian restaurants in Budapest, including the Bombay Palace, the Taj Mahal, Shalimar, etc; and of all these my personal award goes to Salaam Bombay on Merleg. Being a vegetarian, I would prefer to see more choices on starters, but still this is a place where I feel at home. Taj Mahal is good but is a bit long way off main streets - those who like Dosa will be tempted to try one here. Shalimar with its huge portions, I am afraid, not to my taste buds and I shall not visit it again. What I miss is the the Bombay Palace, now closed, however the staff has now moved to Salaam Bombay.

Suggest Salaam Bombay introduces genuine Masala Dosa as they make it in the south India.....

Am looking forward to a visit in August and see Sami from Bombay.

Food is really great. I'm not such much fun of the interior design though. Service good and efficient .
