Reök Palace
Reök Palota6720 Szeged, Tisza Lajos körút 56
|
Notes: A hallmark of Szeged's post-flood architecture, this palace was one of the 20-some designs by Ede Magyar, an architect who has been compared to Gaudi. There isn't a boring part of the Reök Palace, which has been said to be an example of Art Nouveau with a Secessionist slant, creating a stunning façade with rolling roofline, lilac and sea green water lilies and spiraling balconies. Inside there is an wrought-iron stairwell designed by Magyar for Iván Reök, who was the nephew of painter Mihály Munkácsy.
