Save to My CaboodleNotes: The Orthodox Synagogue (Ortodox zsinagóga) is one of two synagogues in Debrecen, both located in the backstreets immediately to the west of Kossuth tér, which is in some disrepair and consequently closed to the public. It must be pointed out that there were eight synagogues in Debrecen and a Jewish population of some 9,000 before WWII. Contrast that with today's estimated population of just 1,200.
