Notes: The Synagogue was built in the 13th century to represent one of the oldest Jewish communities in Europe. When the Jews were expelled from Sopron, under accusation of conspiring with the Turks, the house of worship was then transformed into a Renaissance building. The Old Synagogue was only revealed in 1967 and has since been restored. The building contains two rooms, one for either sex, and a ritual bath. Across the street, the New Synagogue, which dates from the 14th century.
