Notes: Matthias Church is officially called The Church of Our Lady and received its more common name after the coat of arms of King Mátyás Hunyadi (1458-1490), which is depicted on the southern tower. It stands at the site of Buda's first parish church, which was built in the 13th century and destroyed by the Mongols. It was rebuilt in gothic style, then later in baroque style, until Frigyes Schulek reconstructed the original gothic church at the end of the 19th century. The coronation of Charles Robert (1308-1342), Sigismund of Luxembourg (1387-1437), Francis Joseph I (1867) and Charles IV (1916), as well as the wedding of King Mátyás Hunyadi with Catherine Podebrad (1463) and with Beatrice of Aragon (1470) were held in this church.
