This is supposedly the cafe in Gloomy Sunday! I saw the movie and visited the cafe. It is true.

Portions were large and service was friendly, but extensive menu and low turnover suggest frozen and/or stale ingredients, and the food on our plates confirm this impression. I am surprized to see this restaurant keeping company with the others in your list. We would not go there again.

Allegedly the longest-operating privately-owned restaurant in Pest, Kispipa features a massive menu of old-time favorites, often topped off by a list of daily specials longer than most normal restaurants' full menus. The menu is also notable for its curiously specific prices (i.e. Ft 1,471). Either way, the food is good, there's live music most nights, the curiously specific prices aren't outlandish, and the whole package usually leaves everyone full, happy and charmed. As such, there is a decent chance that it may soon feature on Pestiside's list of Top 33 Restaurants in Budapest.
