I meant: ...those which I have found *elsewhere*...

I don't find the prices excessive, considering many are a rarity in this country - those which I have found, have been slightly more expensive. Naturally it probably makes sense to buy generic food items in a larger supermarket; the value of Culinaris is in the specialist foods it sells, and the helpfulness of the staff. The bakery is a bit pricey, however the chocolate brownies are par excellence! It is much cheaper to buy your fresh herbs (boxed or the planted type) than tescos or similar. I cook frequently at home and find myself there frequently seeking a spice or ingredient for an Indian or US-based dish. For a foodie, I think they are a real treat. It is unfortunate that this store is quite cramped, but if you know what you are looking for the staff can usually find it. The receipts are also lamentable, not referring specifically to what you bought. However you can always request a tax receipt/print out without your name on it, which is detailed. So if you are cooking with something obscure on the menu, this should be one of your first ports of call. My opinion is that passionate food lovers will find more than just Ben & Jerrys. If you don't find Tonka beans or Blue Fenugreek here, then isn't that just another reason for a holiday? ;)

I found it to be more of a gourmet shop than a homesick-for-American-stuff shop, which is a good thing. The potted herbs for sale outside are a nice touch, and the selection is amazing for such a small shop.
Very friendly, helpful staff. All in all, well worth the mark-up, at least for the occasional splurge.

If you are missing food items from the US or UK, this shop is for you, but you will pay a premium for it. The name led me to believe this was a gourmet shop, and it isn't at all. Rather, it mostly sells items like Oreos, Ben & Jerry's, Campbell's Soup, sugary cereals, and Old El Paso.

Cluttered indeed. But if you don't see it, one should ask the helpful staff. (they also have Haagen-Daz)
