Bridge of Sighs
Sóhajok hídja6720 Szeged, Széchenyi tér 15
| ![]() |
Notes: A replica of the Venetian Bridge of Sighs connects the Town Hall to the municipal building in the city center. The bridge was built for Emperor Francis Joseph's post-flood visit to the city, but unlike the meaning behind the bridge's namesake, where convicts "sighed" before heading to prison, the "sighs" in Szeged were associated with merchants heading over the bridge to the tax office.
