Black House Museum
Fekete-ház6720 Szeged, Somogyi utca 13
| ![]() |
Notes: Over the years this house behind the Somogyi Library has been a hidden meeting place for the illegal, political, and artistic (first a gentleman's club, later a space for the politically deviant), and the museum details the history of the city through the lens of this house. The building itself dates from 1857, and since it escaped the flood, it is a rare example in Szeged of the Romantic style of architecture. The name could stem from the black mortar that was used in parts on the exterior or from the fact that the house was once occupied by a blacksmith, but one thing is for certain, while the Black House has many associations it is not actually black.
