After spending 5 years in Budapest I have to agree with Baghdad Bobs comments.Also if you want knowledge about where to go then Declan is very useful.ENJOY

Only good for the big sports days and only if you do not mind paying over the odds for slops. That is what they serve when you are not looking. All the time.

watched an england match here. it was okay but fairly generic. for me, i dont go on holiday from england to hang out with a load of englishmen in an english/irish bar but if thats what you want then this would be perfect. the bar staff seemed okay, not rude but not polite either.

It was good for watching sport though with various tv's around of varying sizes and plenty of places to sit. If you can't find anywhere better to watch football then go here, if not, give it a miss.

Startet the evening with looking the Semi Final Russia / Spain (European Championship 2008), not that much people on a summer thursday evening, cause like we were told most use to go to "the island". The staffs behavior was professional - not gently or friendly over the top - but ok.

Had a good start into the night.

When a mate found out I was going to Budapest over Xmas /New Year he suggested to try Becketts.We even booked a place to stay within walking distance..he was right on the money.Great beer..great food...great place....Its a pity its 15,000 kms away and its not my local....

Ive been doing this watering hole for 11yrs, and must say that some of the comments are a bit over the top. Ive been this side of the bar for 37yrs and regard myself as a proffesional!ALL bars have their ups and downs i know, but the ups here outway the downs. If you want a quiet beer go during the day, for football, rugby , its a must! Night time (9.00pm)it explodes into life and the pretty things come out:).Try it a few times and then make your mind up chaps, its not bad at all! ( try to learn alittle hungarian it opens alot of doors!if you know what i mean!:) have a great night.)

Just back from Budapest, went to becketts on recomendation from a friend and let me tell you I had a great time. Service was average, girls were pretty, especially moni. Good regular cliantale had to meet most of them. when footie was on gave me planty of info for nightlife. Declan put us straight on where to go and not to do. Knows this stuff about town. Had a burger, tasted great. Not too expensive prices similar to ireland. But about town similar to other places ie. leroy's, iguana's. Anyway great weekend and thanks for all the help Dec saved me a few buk. I'll pass the good word on.

The real difference between an English Pub and an Irish pub is the lack of cleaners in the latter. Rudeness is endemic in both types. I use a local kocsma when I can. Peopl; can be as rude as they like as i speak little HUNGARIAN so I can have a beer or four in peace!

The ONLY irish place in Budapest - great atmosphere when you are watching football,rugby or hurley!

I've only been once but let me tell you it's a dump. Rude staff, overpriced drinks, terrible guiness, dullest atmosphere, everything that it should be, its not. I've been to many, many Irish bars around the world but this would have to be the worst i've been to.
I would love to see this place close while i reside in Budapest.
If you're a tourist here for a couple of days don't bother this with this one, plenty of other great bars to choose from.
