I used to go there a lot when they were still in Magyar utca. They were always expensive, but food and service did match the price.

After they moved to the new location, it went downhill with everything... except the prices. The food is 'pretentious' (and just not as good as the sometimes minuscule portions might make you expect) and the service do not justify the exorbitant prices. We sometimes had to take things into our own hands and move away empty glasses from the aperitif. Quality is no longer sought after since they now get their guests from the hotel which can deliver well paying but unknowing customers.

Very bad value for money (almost to the point of being a rip-off place)

Had a dinner there and sat outside. Nice garden with really nice live jazz. Waiters were nice and kind. Now the food. I expected a lot and not all my expectations were met. We shared a starter of grilled scallops served on pea and cauliflower mash, topped with roasted almonds. Scallops were fresh, tender and sweet, but the pea-cauliflower base was weired. They also sprinkled pieces of cauliflower around the plate. Our main course course was rack of lamb and lamb confit. rack was nice and tender cooked to perfection, but the confit was scarce. It came in a filo pastry shell and contained a few tiny pieces of meat and some onions and carrots. As you can judge, this dish gave us 50-50 satisfaction. We neded up with chocolate mousse and chocolate volcano (!). The mousse was good and the volcano was basically a cold chocolate cake with lots of ginger. The bill wasn't small at the end.

Some food are excellent others are awful. The waiter dosen't know the difference between hazelnut and peanut, leek and black salsify. If asked for a medium-rare steak they make well-done. How can it be in the top33???

The food is really excellent here but most other things leave me cold.

To me the interior (Andrassy ut location) is quite gloomy -- purples and black -- especially in winter. In the couple of times I've been there it was far from busy and lacking atmosphere. There was some faint background music but I couldn't detect any concept.

Service was good but not at a level corresponding to great food at high prices.

They have a very good tasting menu: 15000Ft for 7 courses; 10000 extra for 7 matching wines.

The room is nice, in a contemporary international style (it could be in a London hotel). The food was pretty good (though the carpaccio of beef with cucumber and feta was a bit pointless, I thought). I had an excellent lamb shank. The service was OK.

It is expensive for Budapest: a friend and I spent 10,000 HUF each for the set lunch, water (Italian), coffee and three glasses of wine between us. Those prices don't tempt me to return.

The restaurant has the feel of a hotel restaurant to it.

I was there on my first wedding anniversary and it seemed perfect. Great food for any occasion, though the prices are quite high for Hungary. The service was also excellent, bith my wife and I were satisfied. And if you want a good chat, don't forget to check out Silvie the bartender, she's cool! In total 10/10.

WOW - fantastic meal! Very well presented and was totally EXCELLENT! Compares very closely with PAVA, definitely recommended. No comparison to their sister restaurant Segal!

Been there, loved it...the food is simply outstanding (tho u have 2 eat 3 courses to satisfy ur apetite, as it previously been said, the meals are rather small), the owners are quite friendly...oh, and the interiour 2..its neat...will return.

The most money to pay for the smallest meal.

I don't see why the Pestside Editors say that reservations is critical as I have never seen the new Baraka ever full. The food is OK with very limited cocktails. Drinks knowledge is limited. Saying all that, the owners are very friendly. As much as the food is great, don't plan on going back there again for the same food a month later as the menu keeps changing.
