Notes: The Balaton Uplands National Park covers an area of 56,997 hectares, of which 10,471 hectares are strictly protected. Attractions include the House of Forests (Erdők Háza) in Bakonybél, the Botanical Garden of Zirc, the geological exhibition in Monoszló, the horse farm (major) in Salföld, the water mill in Zalaszántó, the museum of fishing in Vörs near the Small Balaton (Kis-Balaton), the buffalo reserve in Kápolnapuszta-Zalakomár and the caves of Balatonfüred, Balatonederics and Tapolca. Educational nature paths teach visitors about natural treasures of the region in Tihany, Szentgyörgy Hill, Badacsony, Szigliget, Balatonederics, Somló, on Kányavári Island (Kis-Balaton) and at the Gerence-puszta (near Bakonybél). The environs of the Kis-Balaton only can be visited with a guided tour. The tourist center of the national park is located in Csopak.
