Notes: The Archabbey of Pannonhalma is Hungary's first Benedictine monastery, founded in 996. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. It is an operating monastery, but the public can visit the basilica, the lower church, the cloisters, the library and the wine cellars on guided tours. The environs of the archabbey, the chapel, the Millennium memorial, the botanical garden, the park and the lookout site can be visited without a guide. The archabbey has its own pension where tourists can stay and purchase products made by the monks such as liquor, wine, chocolate, herbal tea and lavender oil.
